This plain black lacquered saya with Kizuregawa clan paulownia heraldry on both sides in gold relief lacquer has soft, elegant curves.
It has been fitted with a silver ring at the back to enable it to be hung on the wall, as well as a removable waterproof copper lining where the halberd blade once was.
Such ‘ichirin-sashi’ (single bloom vases) look sensational hung on a plain white wall with a single hanging branch.
