The postponed show from May was rescheduled for August. Even though visitor numbers were down, the people who did come, came to buy. It was a very welcome and uncharacteristically busy August.
Great appreciation to all of you who took the time to come by and visit us at the show and we look forward to seeing you again next year at the Tokyo Prince Hotel.
The 25th September 2018 marked the long awaited opening of the new Japanese Art Gallery at the British Museum, sponsored by Mitsubishi.
The opening party was well attended. My wife and I met some old friends, both in and out of the display cabinets.
Following the torrential rains we have experienced here in Western Japan, we have received many messages of concern from you in regard to how we are.

An answer in regard to a frequently asked question from new clients; Why does it take so long to ship objects abroad?
Japanese Customs have tightened export regulations over recent years for any object leaving the country regardless of value, if over 100 years of age.
All antique objects over 100 years of age are subject to export approval from the Ministry of Culture. This is a formality to ensure that the object is neither stolen or a Government designated National Treasure or Important Cultural Property. Export papers typically take 10 working days to be issued after receipt of application.
We do appologise for this inconvenience.
We are pleased to announce the relaunch of winterjapaneseart.com with an entirely new inventory of stock including Japanese armour, helmets and accessories. As well as other Japanese works of art.
