This unusual piece is in original condition. The blade is made in the same fashion as a traditional katana, folded and beaten hundreds of times with a razor sharp edge and softer core to absorb shock.

The blade is signed very lightly ‘ARASHIYAMA SAKU’.

The shaft is made of ‘kashi’ (Japanese oak) with extensive dark staining (presumably with whale blood) on the portion nearest the blade. With original cover for the blade, which incidentally is still sharp enough to shave with!!
