#MT401 Early 19th Century Haori & Muneate

This ‘haori’ and ‘muneate’ are in mint condition. Made of purple ‘rasha’ (a Portuguese wool import).

The haori is lined with black silk and carries the ‘kudari fuji’ (weeping wisteria) heraldry of the Naito clan in relief across the back, sleeves and waist. Trimmed with cream coloured silk and silver thread. The front can be fastened with a small ivory button.

The ‘muneate’ (bib) is also made of purple ‘rasha’ and trimmed with the same silk and silver thread. The bib can be attached to the jacket with two buffalo horn buttons which can be passed through two loops on either side of the interior of the haori.
