ACC#369 RARE EARLY 17TH CENTURY HORSE BIT. SIGNED: TADAMASA SAEMON

A rare russet iron horse bit, which was used for training unruly horses. The mouthpiece is made from a single piece of iron with a large lead ring which would have been very uncomfortable for the horse.

An identical example of the same period, but made by a different smith can be seen in the Tokyo National Museum.
