#ACC109 A JAPANESE WOOD POWDER FLASK
19th Century
This flask is humorously carved on both sides with the face of an ‘oni’ (demon). The teeth and eyes are inlaid with bone and ebony.
One bone horn has a ‘himotoshi’ (hole through which to pass a cord). The tip of the other horncan be removed and acts as a measure for pouring gun powder.
