#ACC344 Late 17th Century Hanging Scroll Of A Lord & Two Vassals

This painting depicts a lord preparing for battle. He sits in contemplation, already wearing armour sleeves and shin guards.

In his right hand he holds his 'gunsen' (war fan). The cuirasse and helmet are sitting nearby on the storage box ready to be thrown on at a moments notice. In front of him lie a small handscroll and his tachi. Two vassals, one senior and one junior attend him.

The quality of the brush work is very good. Ink and gold on paper.

With paulownia wood storage box.
