#ACC407 18th Century Temple 'Ranma' in the form of a 'Shishi'

This finely carved 'ranma' in the shape of a lion dog would have been positioned above a door or gateway looking down upon visitors and guarding against evil spirits.

Carved in 'keyaki' (zelkova) wood, measuring 101cm long by 34cm high with long flowing mane and ears. The eyes are inlaid with glass.
