#HLM502 Late18th Century Russet Iron ‘Jingasa’ (Light Head Protection)

This rare jingasa has a copper 'hachimanza' (Metal fitting the top of allow ventilation) in the form of an eight pointed star with floral scrolling.

Further flower shaped rivets representing stars decorate the circumference of the jingasa, whilst a serpent like dragon with gold inlaid pupils slides in amongst rolling clouds and lightning. A small light blue silk bow hangs from a three tier copper fitting at the rear. The underside retains its original silk lining and is lacquered red.
